Goalkeeping clear-out likely at Pirates

Orlando Pirates are set to release two goalkeepers at the end of the season as they are reportedly making room for Richard Ofori and a young keeper.

Sources have claimed that Pirates might already have netted Maritzburg’s Ghanaian keeper Ofori and are just waiting for the season to end to sign him.

Pirates have Jackson Mabokgwane, Siyabonga Mpontshane, Brilliant Khuzwayo and Wayne Sandilands at the moment.

“There are talks that Ofori will go there. But the team also wants a young keeper to be an understudy as has happened with Bruce Bvuma at Chiefs. This means they will have to release two from their current squad. There will also be major changes in the playing personnel as management are unhappy about how the season has turned out and they believe some players have not pulled their weight,” said a source.

The Buccaneers have already been linked with Fortune Makaringe of Maritzburg who is said to have penned a pre-contract deal.
