Moleko facing Kaizer Chiefs exit

Kaizer Chiefs are said to be considering releasing defender Kgotso Moleko from his contract at the end of the season.

Moleko, whose contract with Amakhosi ends in June 2019, has struggled to make the right back position his own since joining Chiefs from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2012.

Last season, the 28-year-old defender made just seven appearances in all competitions for Amakhosi. The season before that, he had made 17.

A source close to Chiefs told Phakaaathi that Chiefs want to release Moleko.

“What I’ve heard is that the team wants to send him on loan somewhere, but if they don’t find a team that is willing to take him on loan, they’ll release him,” said the source.

“Young [Siyabonga] Ngezana has done well so far in that right back position, and the club sees him as a future backup player to Rama [Ramahlwe Mphahlele]. Plus [Daniel] Cardoso can also play in that position, so there’s really no future for Moleko at Chiefs,” added the source.

Meanwhile, as reported by Phakaathi earlier, Chiefs midfielder William Twala could join Free State Stars in a swap deal involving winger Sinethemba Jantjie.

Twala is said to be upset with the lack of game time at Chiefs and wants out.
