Motshwari set to leave Pirates and join SuperSport?

“His time at Pirates is up according to what I have heard," said a source.

Based on his contract, Ben Motshwari is unlikely to be at Orlando Pirates next season.

He is said to have already signed a pre-contract with SuperSport United.

A source at the Buccaneers claims midfielder Motshwari is eager for more game time, something he has not been able to get at Pirates.

This publication has previously reported about Motshwari’s link to SuperSport following some of the new signings at Pirates this season.

The midfield battle at the Soweto giants has been strongly contested, with the likes of Miguel Timm and Thabang Monare the preferred choice by coach Jose Riveiro.

Meanwhile, Motshwari and players like Makhehleni Makhaula, Collins Makgaka and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo have been used sparingly by the Buccaneers coach, or as back-up.

“His time at Pirates is up according to what I have heard. Everyone knows that his contract expires at the end of the season,” said the source.

“There have been talks already with the management because the technical team was not really certain which players they are going to need for the next campaign. But, that just opened doors for SuperSport to pounce on him,” said the insider.

“Going to SuperSport gives him an opportunity to play more, because it is something that is not guaranteed at Pirates for him. I thik that is why he has signed a pre-contract. But to be honest, Motshwari is not playing because he is a bad player. It is just about the coach’s plan and what he wants. There are some games that he has played and he has done well for the club,” added the source.

Motshwari has also been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, but it seems like Matsatsantsa have won the race for the hard-working midfielder’s signature.
