Pirates skipper praises Tinkler

Orlando Pirates captain Thabo Matlaba says he is very happy for his former coach Eric Tinkler for reaching the final of the Caf Confederation Cup.

Tinkler took the Buccaneers to the final of the very same competition in 2015, only to lose out Tunisian outfit Estoile du Sahel.

Two years later, the former Bucs coach has once again managed to reach the final of the continental competition, this time with SuperSport United.

“I am very happy for Eric. He is a good coach. I wish him all the best to win this cup. I know how passionate he is,” Matlaba told Goal.

The Bucs skipper also added that it takes bravery to play in Caf competition.

“It’s all about having the heart to play in Caf competitions. There is a lot you have to deal with, like staying five hours at the airport and at bad hotels. Players who complain will not survive.”

“I think Pirates, SuperSport and Sundowns players were able to take anything without any complaints and that’s why we were able to reach the finals.”

Matsatsantsa will meet with DRC’s TP Mazembe in the first leg of the Caf Confederation Cup final on Sunday. The second leg is set to for next week Saturday.
