Pirates, Usuthu chase Cosmos defender

Absa Premiership teams Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu are on a race to sign Jomo Cosmos defender, Frederic Nsabiyumva, Phakaaathi has learnt.

The hard tackling 22-year-old Burundian central defender is said to have impressed both teams and could join either early next week.

“I think it will depend on the player because Jomo has told him that he doesn’t have a problem with him leaving and is awaiting on the teams to make offers. He will take any offer just as long as the player is happy with it,” said a source.

The Buccaneers could however win the race because they will offer Ezenkosi a few players on top of the money.

“There are two or three players Pirates are looking at offering Cosmos in exchange and that will put them in good stead to land the defender,” added the source.

Nsabiyumva has captained Ezenkosi for the past three years and has always been a solid performer. The Buccaneers are said to be looking to beef up their defence which has been hugely criticised for the team’s disastrous showing over the past two seasons.
