Qalinge applauds Orlando Pirates’ character

Thabo Qalinge hailed the spirit of hard work and determination from his Orlando Pirates teammates following their 1-0 victory over Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.

Qalinge was the hero on the night after scoring an 82nd-minute goal which saw the Buccaneers go on top of the Absa Premiership table with 11 points after five matches.

“The will and character were shown to win the game, we kept pushing and finally found a goal,” said the winger.

“We created a lot of chances but we failed to convert them. All I can is that we showed character and we just fought until the last minute of the game. I am proud of the boys and credit must also go to Cape town City. They play good football and didn’t come here just to show up for the match.”

With the team having endured a good start into the season which has seen them yet to lose a game, Qalinge says it is good for them to be on top of the log, but they don’t want to get ahead of themselves.

“It is good, but we are taking it one game at a time, it is still early. We just have to keep on grinding and looking to get results,” he concluded.
