Sandilands praises Pirates defence

Orlando Pirates keeper Wayne Sandilands was once again in the thick of things for the Buccaneers making incredible saves and helped Bucs beat Cape Town City 1-0 at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

The shot-stopper walked away with the Man-of-the-Match accolade for his heroics as he registered his fourth clean sheet of the season.

Sandilands, however, was modest enough not to take all the credit saying it was a defensive effort.

“It is a great defensive effort that we have a clean sheet and not losing games. I can’t take the credit alone. We work hard as a unit and it is important to keep working hard to keep what we have,” said the Pirates keeper.

Having made the switch from Mamelodi Sundowns to Pirates prior to the start of the current season, the keeper says his focus is to help Bucs get back to their best.

“It has all been a lead up to this moment. I am grateful for everything that has happened. Everything in my career has added steel to who I am and it has made me the person I am today.”
