We feel responsible for Tinkler’s resignation – Modiba

Aubrey Modiba says he and his SuperSport United teammates are taking the blame following Eric Tinkler’s resignation as head coach.

Tinkler tendered his resignation at the start of the month following a string of poor results in the Absa Premiership after being at the helm of the club since last June.

Tinkler did mention in his resignation letter that part of the reason he left was that he felt he had lost the dressing room.

“We also feel responsible because sometimes we’d do the opposite of what he wants because of the situation of the game,” said Modiba.

“We take the full responsibility, but we tried hard, we fought and we tried twin games,” he added.

Kaitano Tembo is tasked with taking charge of the team until the end of the season. Tembo has now somewhat become accustomed to stepping as interim coach as he held reins when Stuart Baxter dumped Matsatsantsa for Bafana Bafana.

“It has been good. He has been working with coach Stuart and Eric, so a lot hasn’t changed. We are still doing more or less the same things, rectifying our weaknesses which are finishing and defending because we have been conceding a lot of goals and not kept cleansheets,” Modiba said.
