Zulu set to join Platinum Stars

Former Chippa United and Bidvest Wits left back Pentjie Zulu is set to sign for Platinum Stars after impressing during a trial there.

Pentjie Zulu joined the Chilli Boys from the Students in January, but did not do enough to earn himself another contract following the expiry of his short-term contract.

The 27-year-old defender, who featured for Dikwena during the 1-0 loss to Free State Stars in the Maize Cup over a week ago, has impressed new Dikwena coach Peter Butler and his technical team and could be offered a deal, according to a source close to Dikwena.

“He has done well at training so far. He could be signed before the end of the week,” said the source.

Meanwhile, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Free State Stars midfielder Luyolo Nomandela has been told to stop training at Stars after failing to impress Butler during his trial there.

Nomandela parted ways with Cape Town City in April after spending just over four months with The Citizens.

Eric Tinkler, who was the City coach at the time, told the media that Nomandela had personal issues and was released on mutual consent.
