Parker, Akpeyi and Katsande extend Chiefs stay

Kaizer Chiefs have announced that veteran striker Bernard Parker, goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and midfielder Willard Katsande have extended their stay in Naturena.


Parker, who joined Chiefs in 2011 from FC Twente, has extended his contract by one more season.

“We are pleased to announce that Bernard Parker’s contract has been extended by one season, ending in June 2021,” read a statement from Chiefs.

“Parker joined Chiefs in July 2011 ahead of the 2011-12 Absa Premiership season and will now be at the club until June 2021.”

Nigerian international Akpeyi, who has done well in goals in Itumeleng Khune’s absence, has also been rewarded by Chiefs.

“We are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi who joined Chiefs in January 2019 has earned himself a two-year contract extension to June 2022.”

Veteran midfielder Katsande, who also assumed the captain’s armband in Khune’s absence, will also remain with Amakhosi until at least June 2021.

“We are pleased to announce that Willard Katsande’s contract has been extended by one season, ending in June 2021.

“Katsande made 272 appearances for Chiefs and has scored 17 goals for the club,” read a Chiefs statement.
