Phala in club search after Leopards exit

Thuso Phala’s exit from Black Leopards didn’t signal the end of the speedy winger’s football career.

The former Kaizer Chiefs man’s mother Suzan Phala announced the player’s retirement from football after Leopards terminated his contract last month, however, he said he was not ready to hang up his boots.

The 34-year-old says he still had a few more years left in him and he hoped to get a club once the league resumes. The father of three said he was enjoying his time off from football with his family. Phala is confident that at his age, he can still get club before the start of the next season with some teams looking for experienced campaigners.

“I am 34 and not getting any younger and I am open to the idea of getting a smaller package. The older you get, the smaller the package you get,” Phala told SunSport.

“I’ve not retired from football, I can still play for a couple of years.”
