SuperSport appoint new captain after Furman’s departure

SuperSport United have announced their new captain after midfielder Dean Furman left the club.

This follows the club’s confirmation of Furman’s departure, with his deal set to expired in June.

Furman stated he would like to move back to the UK with his wife, having served the Pretoria-based outfit for six seasons.

Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was earmarked to take over from Furman, having graduated from the club’s academy as a youngster to the first team.

Coach Kaitano Tembo spoke highly of the goalkeeper and said he would be the perfect candidate to lead the team. Williams has donned the captain’s arm belt before in Furman’s absence.

“SuperSport United and Bafana Bafana international goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has been named as the new captain taking over from former captain Dean Furman,” read a tweet from the club.
