At what age should you have the sex talk with your children?

Springsites are divided at which age parents should talk to their children about sex.

Snow-white Dube: “The earlier the better as seeing that they are getting into puberty, that would help with preventing them from falling into peer pressure as they would ask their friends for advice.”
Sinazo Mazula: “I think as early as when they are five years because they get to see it on TV, so it’s best that they start hearing about it at home.”
Naledi Mahlangu: “From nine years because that’s when puberty stage starts, so the earlier the better.”
John Edwards: “At 15 because I believe the law is wrong at saying children at 12 can have sex and have an abortion.”
Isaiah Makgoga: “At 16 because at that age they are old enough and they know almost everything.”
Bernard Makomo: “I think 12 years is the appropriate age which parents should start speaking to their children about sex. It is best to hear it from home first than the streets.”
Adele Stengel: “It must be at 12 because if a mother speaks to her daughter then it will be right and it prepares them for the outside world.”
Pieter Lanynes: “At 12 years. That’s when they start growing and it’s best at 12 than at just 14 or 15 years.”
