ANC donates blankets

ANC in partnership with Kutlwano Social Organisation (Kuso) donated blankets to 100 beneficiaries on Saturday.

The blanket handover took place along Welgedacht Road next to Bakerton Taxi Rank where joy was written on the faces of the beneficiaries.

Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) Thokozile Magagula was there to witness the beneficiaries’ excitement.

The elderly and orphans from Grootvlei, Gugulethu/Everest, Payneville and Modder East were the beneficiaries of the blankets.

Speaking on behalf of Kuso, deputy chairman Nelson Mthombeni said his organisation’s priority is to ensure that they are there to help better the lives of others in any way that they can.

“The organisation has helped many families and individuals and will continue doing so to ensure comfort and better living conditions, especially for the less fortunate from the townships,” added Mthombeni.

Delivering her keynote address, Magagula thanked Kuso for having such a good relationship with the ANC and she agreed to help donate to the poor.

She added the donation was also part of honouring the role that Madiba played in the fight against Apartheid and she asked all present to appreciate the women of this country.

One of the beneficiaries, Nombulelo Moi (59) from Everest, thanked the ANC and Kuso for the donation.

“I have been a victim of freezing weather as I can not keep warm in my two-room shack,” said Moi.
