The first incident took place in St Blaize Street, Krugersrus.
On Friday at 1pm, a man was on his way to his garage when he noticed two armed robbers following him.
According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, one of the robbers was armed with a firearm and the other with a knife.
They ordered the victim not to move, but he tried to run away.
“Both robbers grabbed him and one of them covered the victim’s eyes with a hand,” says Capt Ramphora.
The robbers took the victim to his bedroom where they tied his hands together with cable ties.
Capt Ramphora adds they started searching the room and shoved a piece of clothing in the victim’s mouth and covered his head as well.
The robbers left the man in the room and it is alleged that for a while he heard footsteps in the house.
“After a while the victim heard a car driving away and tried to untie his hands,” says Capt Ramphora.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t untie himself and rolled out of the house, when one of his neighbours noticed him.
Capt Ramphora says he was untied and contacted his sister-in-law for help.
His car keys, a phone, watch, kettle, DVD player and cash was stolen from the house.
The second incident took place on Saturday in Zwelithini Street, Payneville.
At 2:30am, a man and his wife, who were sleeping in their room, were woken up by a noise.
According to Capt Ramphora, the victim claims someone was banging on the door.
The couple went to investigate when they noticed the door was already broken.
“They tried to hold the door in place, pushing it closed to prevent the robbers from entering, but couldn’t,” says Capt Ramphora.
Four armed robbers gained entry to the house and ordered the victims to lie down on the floor.
Two of the robbers were armed, one with a firearm and one with an axe.
A cellphone, a purse containing the victim’s ID, cards and cash, and their maroon Mitsubishi Colt were stolen.
No one was injured and no shots were fired.
No arrests were made in these cases.
