Bhairavi Sungum Springs performs for G20 dignitaries

The Bhairavi Sungum Springs was among those who welcomed the dignitaries of the G20 Summit with a cultural dance.

The Bhairavi Sungum Springs was among the groups that recently welcomed the G20 dignitaries at OR Tambo International Airport.

In a display of South African diversity and culture, the organisation’s members performed traditional dances.

The chairperson, Poovershree Pillay, said their participation was both a memorable and humbling experience.

“We felt honoured by the opportunity to perform as representatives of the Hindu community. The event had strict security protocols as expected at a global gathering of this scale. Yet the atmosphere remained warm, vibrant, and welcoming,” she said.

Pillay added that the members felt immensely proud to represent their heritage.

“It allowed us to showcase not only our dance and cultural heritage, but also the rich diversity that defines this country,” Pillay said.
