EMPD not monitoring as promised

A few weeks ago you printed my letter regarding the state of the traffic on Fourth Avenue, Geduld, particularly late afternoon.

The metro police said they would monitor the position.

I have not seen a metro police officer in the area to date. But they are still on the passive Ermelo Road regularly catching unsuspecting early morning motorists exceeding the 60km/h on a road that could be safely 80km/h. Our traffic is doing double that, but they are not interested in coming here.

Ermelo Road can never be considered a hazardous stretch in the way that our Fourth Avenue is, which has the added danger of vehicles coming in and out of parking bays into the traffic and people trying to cross the road with the traffic all doing different speeds.

Wait for the next accident – it is coming very soon.
