Firstly, the rates are inflated to six times what the actual property value is.
We have done the necessary objection that they asked for, again costing money.
And from August this year, no response, just an R8 000 account every month.
Secondly, a massive account for R236 000 for our building which consists of six retail shops.
We use water for tea, washing windows and washing floors which is approximately 10 litres per shop per day.
Thirdly, the pavement was dug up in front of our shop at month end in November at the most crucial time of retail trade.
Ekurhuleni and Telkom decide to dig up the entire pavement in front of our shop ensuring that they thoroughly mess up our trade.
There is no consideration or thought put into their actions, except to do whatever they want.
How they affect our business is of no concern to them.
We have truly become a banana republic.
Welcome to the new state of things to come.
