On my daily route to the Springs Retirement Village, I turn left off Zigzag Road into the top end of 9th Street (behind the old coal dumps) which is a disgrace to our town and which I refer to as “prostitute alley”.
The girls (all very young) sit along this short stretch of road waiting for clients.
Most of them do not have underwear on underneath their mini skirts and their low-cut tops leave nothing to the imagination.
One day a prostitute was sauntering along the side of the road without panties on and with her skirt pulled up to her waist.
I slowed down and shook my head at her and got a disdainful look in return as she slowly lowered her skirt.
I am bringing this state of affairs to the Addie’s attention partly in the hope that the police will raid this garbage-littered area, although I doubt it, as I have often seen the girls openly trying to solicit the police when they drive past.
My real concern is for the boys from HTS and the children from Werda Primary School who are within a stone’s throw of these unsavoury goings on.
Perhaps Bridget could “trot” along to this area and raise public awareness as I feel it is time something is done about it.
