Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson and Chris Botha, spokesperson for Netcare 911 reported that 18 people have been left injured on Thursday evening, 13 April after two taxis collided head-on on the R57 in Sasolburg.
Werner Vermaak, communications Manager for ER24 reported on Saturday 16 April a 25-year-old man sustained critical head injuries when his vehicle crashed into a tree on the side of Johan Le Roux Road in Meyerton. Shortly before 8am, paramedics from ER24 and Midvaal Fire Department arrived on the scene where they found the young man still trapped in the Audi. The Midvaal fire fighters used rescue equipment to free him from the wreckage. Once freed, paramedics could place him on life support. He was later rushed to Sebokeng Provincial Hospital for further medical management. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene.
Werner also reported that eight people, including four children, sustained minor to moderate injuries when their bakkie crashed through a barrier on a bridge and down an embankment along the R54 Potchefstroom-Vereeniging road on Sunday morning 16 April. Shortly after 9am, paramedics from ER24 and Tlokwe Fire Department arrived on the scene where they found the bakkie several meters down the embankment. Seven of the occupants, including the four children (10 years old and younger), were found standing near the bridge. They were assessed and found with minor to moderate injuries. A woman was still trapped in the overturned vehicle. The Tlokwe fire fighters had to free her from the wreckage. All the occupants were treated on the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital.
