Pearson Institute of Higher Education bravely faced Lockdown challenges
"Everybody accepted this challenge, making use of their home facilities, offering up of family time, working with interruptions in the home, getting home chores done, no matter what, our job was done."

Stonehaven-on-Vaal, in collaboration with Vaalweekblad and Ster, is hosting a competition for Vaal Triangle businesses to hear what plans they have made to deal with the Covid-19 Lockdown and how they came out stronger. The winning company will receive a gift voucher of R10 000 that can be used for a year-end party OR a 2021 Start-up party at Stonehaven! Here is Pearson Institute of Higher Education’s story:
Lana Bester, a staff member of Pearson Institute of Higher Education writes:
I am so proud to say that I am part of Pearson Institute of Higher Education – Vanderbijlpark Campus. They are the most amazing Team!
With this unexpected crisis, the lockdown did challenge PIHE to think out of the box to survive. On 17.03.2020 we were informed to leave the Campus with immediate effect, we evacuated without delay.
Firstly all Staff on Campus attended to assisting Students to leave safely and the Staff following thereafter. Staff took all possible resources home with them to be able to continue working from home.
It was an amazing experience as there was not one day that went past that we could not proceed with our tasks. Thank you PIHE. We were able to work online and continue to present results to Management. Everybody accepted this challenge, making use of their home facilities, offering up
family time, working with interruptions in the home, getting home chores done, no matter what, our job was done. The show went on!
Academic staff put a new procedure in place for the students to be able to study online, this took a lot of planning.
Phase 1 RTO Team started on 06.07.2020, therefore a COVID Committee was elected, who were brave enough to go in to prepare the Campus and make it safe.
PIHE is definitely an Institute who cares for their Students’ and Staff. We are all aware that companies have been hurt financially by the lockdown. I have come forward to represent and share how our Team stood and worked together, and they definitely deserve a year end function.
We were Brave – We took risks and were bold;
We were Imaginative – Thought outside the box;
We were decent – Respected one another and showed professionalism;
We were accountable – We took pride in our work
We thank you.
Kind regards
Lana Bester
