ELM gets backlash over FB cover photo

“Your cover photo should be a collage of potholes.”

Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) is under fire for its new Facebook cover photo.

On Tuesday the municipality posted the photo of Riviera on Vaal Resort as their Facebook cover photo.

Social media users were quick to respond to the cover photo, with many suggesting that the photo is not maintained by the municipality and therefore the municipality should post properties it maintains.

Many users saw the post as misleading.

Jean Coetzee: Don’t put Riviera on Vaal Hotel as your cover photo! You don’t maintain that! Why don’t you rather just upload something that is more appropriate with ELM!!! Filthy Nasty ELM!

Sohail Lavangia: Took a drive to old Duncanville public pools yesterday. Nature has fully taken over. The swimming pools naturally filled up and trees are growing. What shocks me is that there’s a damn full time security guard. For what exactly? People are going to steal sand or plants? You can barely look after a swimming pool Riviera is far fetch!

Ladyd Phafudi: It’s amazing how the people of Emfuleni are not happy with the municipality but they vent out here on social media where we will end up arguing among ourselves.

Walter Berger: Your cover photo should be a collage of potholes.
