Two airlifted following head-on crash

VEREENIGING.- A 70-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl were airlifted from a Vereeniging scene following a head-on collision this afternoon.

At approximately 3 pm on Monday, paramedics from ER24 and Vereeniging Fire Department attended the scene where they found a light motor vehicle and a bakkie that crashed head-on with each other in Sonlandpark Vereeniging. Upon assessment, paramedics found both occupants from the light motor vehicle with serious injuries. They were still trapped in the car, and the Vereeniging Fire Department used rescue tools to free them from the wreckage.

An emergency medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift both occupants to a hospital in the south of Johannesburg. The driver of the bakkie was found walking on the scene.
