This comes after the Vereeniging Magistrates’ Court postponed the murder trial to 11 October recently. The mourning mother says that she cannot find peace because her daughter’s killer is roaming the streets and continues to lead a normal life despite having taken a life in such an evil way.
Matshidiso, who could not hold back her tears, told Ster North that she was struggling to come to terms with her daughter’s gruesome murder.
“My daughter left me with her 6-year-old child. It is a year now since this gruesome act happened and justice has still not been served. I found my daughter dead on arrival at the scene. She will never be able to tell her side of the story. I want to know exactly what transpired on that fateful day. My grandchild asks me every day where Mamello is.”
Matshidiso says for a year now she has had to lie about her daughter’s whereabouts to her grandchild as she hasn’t gathered the strength to tell the child what really happened.
It is alleged that the suspect arrived at the place of her lover where she found him together with Malefu Mamello Raboroko, his 21-year-old girlfriend.
Police Spokesperson Constable Busiswe Sango reported that the suspect forcefully opened the shack door with a fork.
“At this point, the couple was trying to get dressed. She then proceeded to attack the woman and the man, stabbing them with a sharp object on their upper bodies. The 21-year-old girlfriend sustained one stab wound and died on the scene. The boyfriend sustained a deep stab wound and was taken to Sebokeng Hospital.”
The suspect was arrested and charged with murder and assault with intention to cause Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH).
Sango said the weapon was found and seized by police at the scene. The suspect was later released.
It is believed that this was due to her being pregnant at the time.
