September is Hearing Awareness Month and to celebrate this, JJC Kruger Hearing Centre offers free hearing screening tests this month to members of the public who would like to know their hearing status.
The Hearing Centre would like to give those with hearing loss new hope.
What to expect…
A hearing screening test is a quick test to see how well you hear different sounds.
A series of beeps or tones (at different volume levels and frequencies) are presented to each ear where-upon a button is pressed to indicate when the sound is heard. This will determine whether the hearing is within normal range or not, and to which degree the hearing loss is.
It is more than just a test…
It is not only your hearing that will be tested during your visit. JJC Hearing Centre will also perform an otoscopic examination where they check for excessive ear wax and whether the eardrums and ear canals are healthy. They also do a case history by asking a few questions in order to assist you optimally to fit hearing aids, if necessary.
Your results are available immediately and JJC Hearing Centre will make a recommendation on the way forward. If you have normal hearing, you are good to go.
If not, you are welcome to return for a full diagnostic hearing test. Each person will also receive a specially made-up bag containing valuable information and a few other surprises.
