Sharpeville woman shot and killed execution style

32-year-old Mpho Musi was shot and killed in Phomolong Section, Sharpeville on Friday.

SHARPEVILLE.- It is reported that the deceased was shot multiple times while in her vehicle which was parked directly outside her home. According to her older sister, Lerato Manenye, Musi had just come home, and proceeded to walk into the house to talk to their mother.

She walked out of the house to her car where she was then ambushed and shot.  “My mom said that she was about to take a bath when she heard multiple gunshots. She then received a phone call from a friend who had been on the phone with my sister when the shooting happened.

“The friend told my mom that she heard Mpho screaming and that she suspected that Mpho was involved in a car accident. That is when my mom rushed outside and found that Mpho had been shot while sitting inside the car.

“My sister did not have enemies, she was loved by everyone and this is why we question this violent act. She was everything, and now she is gone just like that.”

Manenye said that they have since found out that their sister had received threats prior to being killed. “My mom and the entire family are devastated. We don’t know how we are going to get through this.”

Sharpeville Police Spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango said, “Police received a complaint that a woman was shot and on arrival, found the victim in her vehicle still alive. The victim was rushed to hospital by one of the family members as Emergency Services had not yet arrived on the scene.

“We are appealing to our community to seek help when they have problems instead of resorting to violence.

“Anyone who might have witnessed the incident is urged to come to the Sharpeville SAPS with information.”

Sango confirmed that a murder case docket has been launched for investigation.
