VEREENIGING.-  Motsumi Mathe has been appointed the new Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) Municipal Manager (MM).

Mathe started with his duties effectively from May 01 and he is the accounting officer of the municipality and serves as the head of municipal administration. He replaces the late Stanley Khanyile who was tragically killed in a shooting 2020. The Boipatong born, bred and educated Mathe is said to be a sought-after strategic leader and manager, a dedicated public servant with over 10 years’ experience in the developmental sector.

He is not new to the SDM as he was employed as a Director (Municipal Systems) in 2014. He managed five business units headed by Executive Directors within the Sedibeng District as an Acting Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure as Sedibeng District senior official he managed to lead the district into achieving a ‘clean audit’ opinion for three consecutive years. He was awarded a National Performance Specialist of the Year by the Chartered Institute of Government Finance, Audit & Risk Officers (CIGFARO) in 2015.

Mathe holds a BSc degree, Honours and Masters in Social Sciences (Research) from the University of Zulu land. He completed an Advanced Management Programme (AMP) from Henley Management College (UK). His experience ranges from human capital, performance management, corporate governance and intergovernmental realtions.

The SDM  Executive Mayor, Lerato Maloka congratulated and welcomed Mathe to the SDM, she also wished him well in his new responsibilities.
