Police recover 28 stolen and hijacked vehicles around Gauteng

The police have arrested 14 suspects following high visibility patrols by units under Rapid Response Services.

GAUTENG – The patrols resulted in the recovery of 28 stolen and hijacked vehicles in one week.

According to police, some suspects were found still stripping off the vehicles, while some vehicles were recovered parked at the car wash.

” Two vehicles were recovered by Sedibeng K9 unit when members were patrolling the Evaton area and found two suspicious vehicles parked at the carwash.

The car-wash was not operating at the time when the vehicles were sported.

“Members observed and swiftly responded and a Silver Mercedes Benz and Toyota Fortuner, each with the driver were found.

On further investigation, it was found out that the Mercedes Benz had a Johannesburg Central case.

“We appeal to the communities to report any suspicious activity in their areas like the unloading of quantities of merchandise and or unfamiliar vehicles parked for a long time with no occupants.

All the suspects will be appearing before the different Magistrate’s Courts soon facing charges of possession of stolen and hijacked vehicles.
