Intruders seize over R130 000 stokvel money at a residence
Three intruders impersonating police officers recently seized R131 000 stokvel money from a house in Boipatong.

BOIPATONG.- Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports that three African males arrived at the residence, knocked at the door and introduced themselves as police investigators from Vanderbilpark.
“One of the men holding a docket cover introduced himself as Inspector Mofokeng who was assigned to follow up on a previous house robbery.
The men subsequently took out firearms and instructed everyone to lie down. They further tied the victims with cables and demanded cash.
Maxambela reports that a child was pointed with a firearm and threatened to be shot at.
“A victim stopped them and gave them the money. They further took a hard drive with a memory stick.”
Suspects locked the family in a bedroom and further took an iPhone worth an estimated R29000 and a Samsung J5 core worth R2000.
Maxambela states that a complainant was assaulted with a firearm on the head.
“Police warn the community against keeping stockvel money in the house as it threatens their safety.”
Boipatong’s station commander Colonel Molotsi urges members of the community to keep their money in banks and to refrain from using Social Media to share information.
