The Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) is once again clamping down on illegal electricity connections in Sicelo.

MEYERTON. – The Red Ants arrived in numbers this morning to carryout the disconnections.

MLM’s MMC for Engineering Services Gerrit Viljoen confirmed the disconnections, adding that that the municipality is loosing a lot of money to illegal electricity connections.

The Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Zodwa Molefe has previously raised concerns about illegal electricity connections in Sicelo. Molefe stated that the electricity cables and wires  crossing the streets in the area pose a danger to children.

Police spokesperson Constable Tlaleng Moloi says, ” There is high police presence in Sicelo to ensure that law and order is maintained while allowing for the process to take place.”
