Colonel Nomakhwezi Sigo, Station Commander of the Barrage, joined by Gauteng provincial police officers, the Sedibeng District, the Emfuleni Local Municipality and various stakeholders mingled with the community on June 3 at the Lochvaal Hotel.
Welcoming the guests, Captain Happy Nape asked the community and neighbourhood watch to work together with the police.
“Crime affects everyone, it has no color and or political party affiliates. Working together with the police will curb crime,” he said.
Ward 25 Councillor, Mokete Tladi commended the job done by the police. “We all need to maintain a good relation-ship with the law enforcement agencies.
I am happy to see that most of the neighbourhood watch and communities of the rural areas are taking part. We need each other. Let us be a society that hates crime,” said Tladi.
Tladi added that the youth must not fold their arms when crime takes place.
Stock theft and housebreaking are the most common crimes.
