Lulama shines bright at Eskom Expo

Lulama Isabirye, a learner from Curro School in Vanderbijlpark, recently participated as an individual in the Eskom Expo.

This is an annual science fair organised by Eskom to give students a chance to come up with scientific innovations to solve problems in the community.

The expo is organised at regional, national and international levels. Thus winners at regional levels get an opportunity to participate nationally.

Learners that participate on national levels are accorded the chance to participate internationally.

Eskom, through their coordinator, presents a series of support tutorials to assist young scientists with developing their own scientific projects.

This year’s expo took place at Curro Savanna City on 30  July 2022.

Lulama’s innovation was entered in the energy sector.

She came up with a model /prototype of a solar charged tablet/phone that could be used by students/learners in rural areas (where there is no electricity) to participate in e-learning and access e-books.

Lulama achieved silver and is awaiting communication from the coordinator to inform her whether she will participate in the National Expo.
