MEYERTON. – The 25th Race for Victory National Classic, hosted by Entelect, takes place from 07:00 to 14:00 today, Sunday August 28, in support of Frances Vorwerg School.
This school in the south of Johannesburg provides education to learners with cerebral palsy and learning difficulties.
The Race for Victory is an annual road cycle event that starts and finishes at the Boswell Wilkie Circus Farm in Springbok Road, Daleside. It attracts professional riders, novices as well as cyclists who compete for recreational purposes.
Two cycling distances are on offer during the Race for Victory competition. The 110 km distance takes riders through the Meyerton/Henley on Klip area, whilst the 54km distance is ideal for recreational and less fit cyclists.
In the past this race has offered some amazing refreshments and handouts. Cold drinks and recovery snacks have always been well received by the often exhausted riders as they collect their finishing medals.
The “Think Bike” Motor Bike marshalls will help control the traffic and cyclists, as will the local Traffic and Metro police. Marshalls will be provided by the school and Albion Wheelers.
For many local cyclists the Race for Victory represents the first event of the cycling season for 2022, so get your entries in and enter online at www.raceforvictory.co.za. Details of the route is available on the website, but roads can be described as “gently undulating”.
Frances Vorwerg School has a proud history of helping children, irrespective of their race, to overcome their disabilities. This enables them to complete their education and ultimately lead productive lives.
Other sponsors include Laurium Capital (T shirts) and My Active (online entries)
The event is officially sanctioned by Cycling South Africa.
