Murder suspect sentenced
It was through diligent investigation and collection of evidence that the murderer was brought to justice.

MEYERTON. – Diligent investigation and collection of evidence by seasoned investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Jimmy Kekana of Meyerton SAPS has led to the successful conviction and sentencing of 36-year-old Dingaan Teboho Tsetsengwe.
Tetsengwe was found guilty of murdering Bafana Herington Maya and was sentenced 20 years imprisonment for murder at the Vereeniging Regional Court.
This comes after the police in Meyerton discovered Maya’s decomposed body on 18 January 2021 at the open field next to the Meyerton Railway Station and a murder case was opened.
The case was assigned to Detective Warrant Officer Kekana for investigation.
He immediately started with the investigation, searching for the suspect and ensured that he leaved no stone unturned.
The detective followed all the leads until he eventually arrested Tsetsengwe, who was later charged with murder.
Following the sentence, Meyerton Station Commander, Colonel Senzangakhona Christopher Mohale, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Detective Warrant Officer Kekana for excellent work.
“I am confident that the sentence handed down to Tsetsengwe will serve as deterrence to those who may have the intention to commit these types of crimes,” Mohale says.
