VANDERBIJLPARK. – The North-West University (NWU) has recorded exceptional results in the January 2026 Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC) examinations.
The results were released on 10 April, revealing that 97% of NWU candidates who wrote the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) national exams passed, significantly outperforming the national average pass rate of 65%.
These results are a testament to the institution’s strong academic performance and commitment to excellence.
Prof. Bismark Tyobeka, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the NWU, congratulated the university’s chartered accountancy students, as well as academic staff, saying: “It is our duty to ensure that we deliver enough accounting professionals of the highest quality, with the ethical and leadership frameworks to stem the tide of corruption, and in this regard I am immensely proud of the work being done by our Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, our School of Accounting Sciences and our students. This is where change happens; this is where we make a difference.”
Prof Heleen Janse van Vuuren, Director of the School of Accounting Sciences, said: “Although we are extremely proud of our staff and students, we remain humble, as every year is a new year, and every new cohort of students deserves the best education and preparation possible.”
She stated that the NWU attributed these outstanding results to the collective effort of its academic staff and the ongoing support of management, highlighting a collaborative environment that continues to drive student success.
