‘Home Affairs’ officer behind bars

Mother luck eluded a self proclaimed Home Affairs official conducting operation search, demanding bribes from Pakistani National's shops recently.

MEYERTON.- A 46-year-old African man was caught in the act demanding money in a form of bribery from the shop keepers on Loch street in the CBD of Meyerton.

Police Spokesperson, Sargeant, Tintswalo Ndhambi said the bogus official who terrorised shop owners was arrested on 27 July at Loch Street around 13.00. He is being charged with impersonating a Home Affairs/immigration official.

The shopkeepers told the police that the man demanded to see their documents as he produced his fake identity name badge written Home Affairs and from nowhere seeing that the shop keepers were alone he allegedly demanded R500. He is alleged to have been doing this in all Pakistani shops.

He is expected to appear at the Meyerton Magistrate’s court soon.
