SEDIBENG. – Rus-ter-Vaal Secondary School is among the list of asbestos schools that were supposed to be eradicated in 2016, however to date, learners are still exposed to asbestos infrastructure.

The party said that this poses a serious health and safety risk for both learners and teachers.

“The purpose of the oversight inspection is to assess the state of the school infrastructure and the progress concerning the construction of a brick-and-mortar structure.  The DA will assess the infrastructure challenges that learners and teachers at Rus-Ter-Vaal Secondary School are faced with daily. We will also monitor the progress with regards to the construction of the new brick-and-mortar school and ascertain the reasons for the delays in completion.”
