Man, 21, stabbed to death, friend injured
Body of a man stabbed to death lies in a pool of blood for over 12 hours

SONDERWATER – A 21-year-old Karabo Molakeng was stabbed to death by a group of men roaming Beverly Hills and Sonderwater streets with guns and pangas.

His friends, were assaulted with a gun, searched and robbed.
This is after Karabo and his four friends were coming from Mkhelele, crossing Randfontein Road going to see a friend on Sunday evening.
According to one of the victims who was at the scene when Karabo was killed, cops were called around 22:00 and they only removed the body on Monday morning.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, mother to the deceased Maria Molakeng, she said she last saw her son around 20:00 last night when he left with his friends.
“Karabo left with his friends claiming they were going to Extension 11 in Mkhelele. In the early hours of the morning, around past 12, I heard a knock at the door. When I opened, it was one of his friends telling me that my son was in trouble. I quickly dressed, left with her and found my son in a pool of blood in Sonderwater,” she said.
Maria said she was told that her son was killed by a group of men with guns, knives and pangas.
“I could tell he was stabbed with what seem like a sharp object.
“It really pains me to see my son lying dead. We are very distraught as the family and wish his killers will be brought to the book,” said the whipping mother.
One of the eyewitnesses who didn’t want to be named fearing victimization told the paper how his friend was stabbed in his presence.
“When we were downing Randfontein Road, we could see a group of men from a distance. Four of my friends including Karabo ran for their lives. I stood there while they were getting chased. Karabo was caught. We were told to lie on the ground while these people searched us after they hit me with a gun on the forehead. They men stabbed Karabo, took my phone and money and fled the scene,” he said.
“After my friend was stabbed, I tried to save him and asked for help, but no one could help. He lied on my knees as we set down on the group after he told me he was getting tired from the stabbing. I covered him with a jacket and ran to call his mother,” he said.
Dozens of residents gathered at the scene were the lifeless body of Karabo lied in a pool of blood.
Cops attended to the scene and eventually took his body to a state mortuary.
Police spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango said a murder case has been opened and investigations are underway.
“No suspect has been arrested as yet; however, we are investigating,” she said.
