Sebokeng College’s reunion a resounding success
The reunion’s purpose was to launch a portal and ignite a movement to improve the living conditions for the children in the Sedibeng Region.

VEREENIGING.- Former Sebokeng College students held their reunion at Maccauvlei Golf Course, a stone’s throw away from the town of Vereeniging recently.
The event was a celebration of 30 years since the teacher college, formerly based at Houtkop in Sebokeng closed its doors. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, one of the organisers, Tsholo Mokhachane said that the idea for the reunion was initiated by the former student-turned-businessman, Lazzy Mphasane from MFS Retirement Advisory Services.
At the reunion, guests were treated to welcome drinks and finger snacks while reminiscing about the ‘good old days. The mood was vibrant as former college students mingled and reminisced down memory lane while dancing to the tunes by DJ Jackson Lebenya, a craft he has been good at since his college days.

“It was a bittersweet moment as former students mingled whilst sipping cocktails and mocktails,” Mokhachane said.
The occasion saw the likes of Lesedi FM’s DJ Ba2Cada gracing the event. Well-known and world-traveled celebrity, Nomsa Ranaka delivered a keynote address that was an inspiration to the guests.
“A symbolic hand-over of a key to Dr Molefi Oliphant was also done by the Chief Director of Education in SediWes, Victor The event was also graced by the Sedibeng West and Sedibeng East Districts Directors Messrs Maseko and Metsing,” explained Mokhachane.

The focus will be on 10 key pillars which include bursaries, coaching and mentorship, career opportunities, learnerships, scholarships, etc. Guests were treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch and a spit braai dinner. After the formalities, the dance floor was lit with the former Sebokeng College students dancing their socks off.
This promises to be an annual event as business establishments such as Aurora and MFS. Several prominent personalities such as Castor Hoeane of Kgalala Palace and Mosotho Petlane pledged their support both in kind and cash.
