35 stolen sheep and a calf recovered

Police were contacted by members of the community members that sheep were roaming around on one of the delipidated plots.

VEREENIGING. – The hard work of the Vereeniging South African Police Services (SAPS) stock theft unit recently paid off.

This is after twenty-five sheep and one calf were stolen from a farmstead in the Vereeniging area at around 3:30. Police said that tracks were followed, and during the day they recovered a 2-months-old calf.

The following day they returned to the same area and recovered six of the missing sheep in an open veld, the owner was contacted and he identified his sheep.

Meanwhile, on the same day, police were contacted by members of the community members that sheep were roaming around on one of the delipidated plots in the vicinity where police recovered the six sheep earlier. The owner was again contacted and he identified all the remaining sheep as his property.

Police said that in total, thirty-five sheep and one calf were recovered.

Investigations are continuing.
