SHARPEVILLE.-  The Sharpeville police have opened an inquest docket after a young girl drowned in a stream between Tshepiso Phase 1 and 2 on Tuesday.

It is said that the deceased and her two friends were apparently playing in a deep-water stream, and the deceased drowned.

“The members of the community pulled the deceased out of that deep water stream. She was declared dead on the scene,” said police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango.

Investigations are ongoing.
