Baby found at dumping site
While bystanders were still on the scene, Meyerton Communication Officer Constable Nompumelelo Zazini engaged with the community to refrain from the act of dumping children.
The Meyerton SAPS has launched an inquest case docket following the discovery of the body of a stillborn baby in Sicelo Ward 8.
According to police spokesperson Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, the discovery was made by a group of children who were playing at the dumping site. The kids thereafter alerted their parents about what they had witnessed.
βOn arrival, police discovered the lifeless body of the infant, which was subsequently declared dead by paramedics. The police then urged the community to assist in the investigation by providing any information that could help shed light.β

Zazini advised that if someone is pregnant and does not want the child, she must inform staff working at the local clinic or hospital so that arrangements can be made for social services to intervene so that the person can be assisted and referred. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
