Midvaal opens applications for Mayoral Student Financial Aid

Funding support is available for qualifying Midvaal students needing help with higher-education costs in 2026.

MEYERTON – Midvaal Local Municipality has opened applications for its Mayoral Student Financial Aid Programme, aimed at supporting students pursuing higher education qualifications.

The programme, launched in 2024, assists qualifying students with tuition and registration fees, as well as essential study resources such as laptops and textbooks. Since its inception, more than R1.5 million has been disbursed, benefiting over 57 students.

In response to continued demand, the municipality has allocated R750 000 for the 2026 academic year. The municipality said the programme forms part of its commitment to creating opportunities and easing the financial burden on students so they can focus on their studies and contribute meaningfully to society.

Applications close on Friday, 23 January 2026. More information is available on the municipality’s website.
