Walkerville roads to close for SA National Cycling Championships

Some Walkerville streets will be off-limits as SA’s top riders hit the asphalt.

WALKERVILLE – Residents and motorists are advised of temporary road closures in Walkerville as the 2026 South African National Cycling Championships take place from 5 to 8 February 2026.

The Midvaal Local Municipality announced that several roads will be closed daily from 05:00 to 17:00 to accommodate the cycling event. Affected streets include Main Street, from Rosenbusch to R557/Randvaal Road, and R557/Randvaal Road, from Main Street to 5th Avenue.

The official race route will start at Rosenbusch, continue along R557, R82, Aloe Ridge Drive, School Road, Main Street, Perdekop Road, 4th Avenue, and return via R557 to Rosenbusch.

Council encourages residents to plan alternative routes and apologises for any inconvenience caused by the closures.
