From karts to Kyalami: Morgan (17) is racing to the top
VEREENIGING - Most 17-year-olds are preoccupied with driver’s licenses and exams, but for Morgan Jacobs, life is best viewed through a visor at high speed.
Born and bred in the Vaal, this young speedster is quickly becoming one of the most formidable female drivers on the Gauteng motorsport circuit.
The journey began years ago at the Vereeniging Kart Circuit. While her peers were discovering hobbies, Morgan was refining her racing line.
By 15, the track, now known as GT Raceway, had become her second home.
The dedication was evident: practicing twice a week, she wasn’t just driving; she was studying the physics of speed.
That groundwork paid off in 2024 when she joined the local SSS Series.
Even as she celebrated her sixteenth birthday mid-season, Morgan remained focused, ultimately clinching second place in the championship.

New season, new victories
If 2024 was about finding her feet, 2025 was about leaving everyone in her dust.
Stepping up to the SilverCup 2.0 on Gauteng’s long circuits, Morgan delivered what can only be described as a masterclass rookie season.
She didn’t just participate; she dominated, capping off the year as the A+ Championship winner.
Her performance caught the eye of the heavy hitters. At the end of last year, Morgan underwent a selection process at Kyalami Park, competing against four other top regional female drivers for a coveted seat with Pablo Clark Racing (PCR).
After a series of “in-office” evaluations and high-pressure on-track trials, Morgan emerged victorious, securing her spot with the prestigious team for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
Now firmly entrenched in the 2026 season, Morgan races in a BMW 330i, sporting car number 246.
She is already proving her mettle in the Class D BMW M-Performance Parts Race Series, backed by BMW Bryanston.
With two race meetings already under her belt in the Extreme Festival Series at Zwartkops, Morgan is no longer just a “promising youngster.” She is a contender.

While her current focus is on the BMW series, Morgan’s ambitions are booming. With the professional backing of PCR, she has her sights firmly set on the world of GT3 racing.
For those who want to see the future of South African motorsport in action, the wait isn’t long. Morgan will be taking to the tarmac this Saturday at Red Star Raceway in Delmas.
For those who can’t make the trip, the event will be live-streamed, offering a front-row seat to the next chapter of this Vaal-born phenom’s career.
