TT2 delivers fast racing at Kareekloof

Fast times, tough climbs and fierce racing defined the second round of Albion Wheelers’ 2026 Time Trial Series at Kareekloof.

MIDVAAL – The second event of Albion Wheelers Cycling Club’s 2026 Time Trial Series took place on May 16.

This time, riders tackled a testing 19.18km outand-back route between the Onion Farms outside Daleside and Kareekloof.

The course tested riders early with a sustained uphill drag on the outbound leg before rewarding them with a gradual descending return, producing several fast finishing times in the second instalment of the monthly series.

Mitchell Cullum of Albion Wheelers delivered a commanding performance to take victory in 25:13.8, setting the benchmark for the day.

He was closely followed by Wijan Nieuwoudt of Team Fly Cool Collective, who finished 1:11.7 adrift, while Alastair Stedman of TSR Pro Cycling secured third place in 26:30.5, just five seconds further back.

In the women’s race, Mikyla Duif of Team MCG continued her strong form, taking the win in 29:32.3. She was followed by Shanique Marx (ON TRACK BY NXTG), who finished 10.7 seconds behind in 30:13.0, with Jaclyn Bilson of Albion Wheelers rounding out the podium 1:01.1 back in 31:03.4.

The TT2 results are starting to shape the overall standings, with riders’ best three results from five events, plus their Gauteng ITT Championship results, counting toward overall standings and provincial colours selection.

The series now moves into its mid-season stretch, with upcoming fixtures scheduled for June 13 (Daleside/ Circus Loop, 14.5km), July 11 (Circus/Drumblade Loop, 26km), and August 1 (Daleside/Bosco, 27km), before the concluding fun team time trial in September.
