Diabetic emergency in Meyerton Central

CERT-SA responded swiftly to a diabetic emergency in Meyerton Central, where a patient required urgent medical care before being transported to hospital.

Rescuers from the CERT-SA emergency response group responded to a medical emergency in Meyerton Central on Friday, June 19.

According to the CERT-SA VAAL crew, a unit was dispatched to the incident involving a patient experiencing a diabetic complication at approximately 19:00.

On arrival, the patient was assessed and found to be in a condition requiring urgent medical intervention.

The patient was stabilised on scene by the crew before being transported to hospital by ER24for further treatment, CERT-SA said in a statement.

Safety tip:
Diabetic emergencies can develop quickly and may become life-threatening if not treated promptly.

Individuals living with diabetes are encouraged to take their medication as prescribed, maintain regular meals, and monitor blood sugar levels where possible.

Family members and caregivers should familiarise themselves with early warning signs such as confusion, sweating, dizziness, or weakness, and seek immediate medical assistance if symptoms arise.
