Midvaal repairs 2 597 potholes in July
A total of 2 597 potholes were repaired across Midvaal during July as road maintenance teams continued their ongoing road rehabilitation work.
MIDVAAL – Midvaal Local Municipality repaired 2 597 potholes during July as part of its ongoing War on Potholes campaign.
According to the municipality, road maintenance teams maintained a weekly pothole closure rate of between 89% and 93% of all identified potholes during the month.
The municipality’s Water Section also repaired 430 water-related potholes.
Grading teams regravelled more than 19 kilometres of gravel roads, while road marking teams repainted stop signs, pedestrian crossings and speed humps as part of ongoing road safety and road maintenance efforts.
Rehabilitation work was also undertaken on sections of Boundary Road following extensive road failures that had compromised the road.
The municipality said the Boundary Road project is substantially complete, with only the painting of the centre line remaining.
Rehabilitation work on Corrie Pypers Road in Golf Park has also been completed. The municipality said assessments found the road to be “highly saturated” and in need of remedial work.
The road has since been reopened to traffic.
The municipality said it would continue investing in the maintenance and upgrades of its road infrastructure.
