‘Gold rush’ for Bertus at provincial horse riding champs
Zalala’s riders shined bright in Middelburg.
Bertus Harmse with Sour Diesel was the star at the Mpumalanga Show Jumping Championships and dressage challenge.
Bertus was crowned overall junior winner and bagged three gold medals, two-phase junior 100cm, A2 competition junior 100cm, and championship competition class 100cm.
The competition took place at Pienaardam from October 25–27.
Three riders competed in the dressage training classes.
Kagan von Kleist and Perdeprag Chrisstoffel took silver in walk and trot test two and walk and trot test three.
Miandi Pretorius and Roxy Bay claimed a bronze in the prelim three junior and adult.
Danell van Rooyen and Seeis Agen took bronze in the prelim two junior and adult test and silver in the prelim three junior and adult test.
Danell took home four medals in the show jumping: gold on Avro Prince in two phase 40cm and A2 competition 40cm.
On Seeis Agen, she took silver in two phase 70cm and bronze in A2 competition 70cm.
Shannon Lewis on Hanzel Kalant had a super clear round in the training 60cm A2 competition class.
On Hanzel Kalant, Bertus took a silver medal in the two phase 60cm training class.
Leanke Fourie with The Burgh’s Blue Crush took bronze in the two phase pony rider 70cm and A2 competition pony rider 70cm.
Charné Claassens with Winter Night Saphire managed a super clear round in the junior 90cm A2 competition class.
Janika Erasmus with Scribbles placed in the A2 competition training 80cm – four pen and a gold in two phase training 80cm.
Esmé de Bruto with Enjoy the View had a super clear round in A2 competition – time pen.
“We are proud of all our riders who did their best and achieved great results,” said instructor and trainer Danell.
