Witbank Dam levels rise, but other parts in eMalahleni are still without water

eMalahleni residents react to the Witbank Dam water level updates.

The Witbank Dam water levels have reached a staggering 96.9%, bringing relief to the region’s water supply.

However, residents of eMalahleni, particularly those in Siyanqoba and surrounding areas, remain without access to this precious resource.

For years, the community has struggled with intermittent water supply interruptions and shortages.

The situation has become increasingly dire, with residents often going without water for days on end.

“We are thrilled to see the dam levels rising, but it’s heartbreaking that our taps are still dry. When will we see an end to this water crisis?” said Nomsa Mahlangu, a resident from Clewer.

The water crisis in eMalahleni is a complex issue, with multiple factors contributing to the problem. The lack of access to clean water has had a devastating impact on the community, with residents forced to rely on alternative sources, such as boreholes and water tankers.

“We are doing our best to cope with the situation, but it’s not easy. We are forced to spend money on water tankers and boreholes, which is a huge financial burden. We just want access to clean, reliable water like everyone else,” concluded Thembi Zulu from Vosman Extension 5.
